Tue May 5th hike will be on Otsego-Delaware Audubon property, provided that the thunder storms predicted hold off. Meet at the rear of Hannaford parking lot at 10 AM to car pool up to Franklin Mt. as the space there is limited. Bring a lunch and water to enjoy at the view from the Hawk Watch platform. Water resistant foot wear is advised as I am hoping to lead you on the abandoned road to an old farmstead, both of which could be soggy in spots. Lucille Wiggin 432-1022

Tuesday, May 12th photo walk/wildflowers.......... Meet at the old Ames parking lot at 9:30 a.m. or the first parking lot at Gilbert Lake at 10 a.m. There will be two groups: those who want to hike will be led by Fran Darrah and those who want to photograph are to bring whatever equipment they want to carry. This will be a slow group, so tripods can be used, if one wishes. Point-and-shoot cameras and general discussion about photography will be provided along the way. Bring a lunch. Both groups will meet for lunch. Let's hope there will be some flowers out.

Meet at Glimmerglass Opera parking lot at 10:00 a.m. We will drive on up Rt.80 to VanHornesville Gorge to view cave and flowers. We then return to Opera grounds for picnic lunch and then you are free to wander around the Goodyear Sanctuary. Oneonta group meet at Price Chopper at 9:15 a.m. to carpool. Wed. May 20, Monthly meeting Elm Park United Methodist Church, 401 Chestnut St., Oneonta. 6 pm potluck dinner followed by 7 pm program. Dr. Francis Nolan will present a program about his experiences"Hiking the Adirondack High Peaks".

You are invited to enjoy the Canoe Races from Jean and Joe Seroka's Riverside Park. Come early, come Sunday and Monday, stay late.

The hike for May 26 will be at the Betty and Wilbur Davis State Park. The Oneonta group will meet at the Price Chopper parking lot at 9:30 a.m. or you can meet at the Park at 10 a.m. Bring water and lunch and wear appropriate footwear. Call trip leader, Fran Darrah at 286-3301

Directions: Hike leaves from the Upper Riddell State Park entrance at 9:30. If you are coming from Oneonta, traveling east on I-88, take exit 17. The park entrance is at the terminus of exit 17 on Hwy 28. If you are coming from Cooperstown, traveling south on Hwy 28, go under I-88 to the Upper Park entrance. Because there are long and short trip options, car pooling at Price Chopper is not encouraged.
