Susquehanna Chapter ADK

Canoe/Kayak in Otego - Susquehanna River, Tuesday, Sept. 22. Ruth Schaeffer 988-7036. We will paddle from Otego Town Barns to Wells Bridge Fishing access - downstream approximately 8 miles. From Oneonta travel down Rt. 7 towards Otego. Go past PD's used furniture and the big chicken. Take the next left by the Otego Municiple building. We will meet here in the parking lot at 10:00. We will unload canoes/kayaks down by the river. Most will drive vehicles to W.B. fishing access and we will return to town barns in 1 or 2 vehicles.

Irv and Monica Peters will lead a hike up (and down) Mt. Wellington (commonly known as "Sleeping Lion") on Tues. 9/29. Meet at 9:30 at Price Chopper in Oneonta or at 10:30 at the entrance to Glimmerglass State Park on the east side of Otsego Lake (Co. Rt. 31) - trail is about 2.5 miles total and of moderate difficulty. It is described in the Otsego County Trail Map. Lunch can be eaten after the hike at the park ... or wherever. Oct. 13 hike in Delaware County on Roses Brook Road. Meet at Price Chopper parking lot at 9:30 a.m. for a two-hour, C rated hike. Bring lunch and water. For further information, call Fran Darrah at 286-3301.

Wednesday, October 21, monthly meeting at Elm Park United Methodist Church. 6 pm. Potluck supper will be followed at 7 pm with Jay Fleisher presenting a Power Point program "A Trek along the Southern Approach to Everest Base Camp." Jay will be joined in the presentation by his partner and travel-mate, Judy Pachter.
