On Tuesday, November 3, Doug and Scott Fielder will lead a hike at the Oneonta Greenway. Meet at the Greenway in time to start at 10 am. Following the hike we will drive to the Fielders’ home at the Plains at Parish Homestead, a distance of approximately 1 mile. We will walk around the portion of the Plains where the townhomes are either completed or under construction, and we will be able to view the apartment building, now under construction, from a distance. Following the walk, bring your lunch to the Fielders’ home. We will provide apple cider and dessert.
We will hike “Andy’s Trail,” which passes through spruce and hardwoods and in places along a stream and pond. Difficulty level of the 2 mile walk is about C+ and includes one long ascent. We will leave from Price Chopper’s parking lot at 9:30 am and meet those traveling directly to the park at 10:00 am. From Davis Road, turn left into the second parking lot near the new restrooms. Concluding the hike, lunch can be eaten in the pavilion. For more information call Currie Marr, 432-5434.
For our hike to Hunt's Pond next Tuesday, November 17, the people who car pool from Oneonta should meet at the old Ames lot by 9:30 a.m. and then proceed to Morris where we will meet the group behind the Wilber Bank in the parking lot at the one traffic light, left side of Rt.23 by 10 a.m. We'll then go on to New Berlin. Hikers should bring lunch and water. If anyone is interested, we could look at the very old cemetery at White Store on the way back. For additional questions, call: 432-2583 Heide and Ernie Mahlke.
Wednesday, November 18, monthly meeting at Elm Park United Methodist Church. 6 pm. Potluck supper will be followed at 7 pm with Harry Barnes and Muffy McDowell reporting on their 6 day, up close and personal, whale watching trip to Baja.
Due to misinformation about the start of hunting season, there will be NO soup and hike on Means' property. Rather than cancel, we can hike Upper Riddell State Park where hunting is not permitted, according to a phone conversation with a ranger. Meet at 10 o'clock to walk up and back down the mountain. Turn right off exit #17 of I-88. Wear "hunter" orange if you can. Barb Means 432-4903
