ADK Canoe Trip, June 24, 2008

06/24/2008 - 09:15

We plan to lead a canoe trip on June 24 starting at the outlet of Canadarago Lake at 10:00. Drivers should proceed to the Village of Schuyler Lake and take a right at the caution light in the Village (heading east); go 1/2 mile to the bridge where we will meet the group. Then we'll paddle out onto the Lake and paddle north to our home IF the wind is cooperative and the Lake not too rough. If it is, we will just paddle the outlet and paddle back to our vehicles and drive to our home for lunch. We will provide beverages and "my famous lemon cake". We have only one canoe to loan so all should plan to bring their own canoe or kayak. We would appreciate anyone planning to come to call Monica and Irv at 315-858-0261 to let us know.

Those coming from Oneonta could assemble at Price Chopper at 9:15 and take Route 28 north to Schuyler Lake to meet us. Any questions, please call.

PS -- Any who wish to come to spend the day at the Lake and do not wish to canoe, etc. are most welcome to come to our home and just enjoy relaxing on our deck right on the water. If any wish to walk, there is a road just north of ours "Locust Lane" that can be leisurely walked; or a short 2 mile trip to the Village of R. Springs - there are lots of great old houses there and the Park Inn on Main Street has been restored and it is something to see. Or ... just chill out at the Lake. Our home is on ZEPHYR KNOLL - which is the first right hand turn road (you see the Lake) just past BAKER'S BEACH. If you get to the Village, you missed the small gravel road we live on - turn around and go back. The sign is white printing on a GREEN background - somewhat hard to see, but not if you're looking for it.

Those who don't wish to do the water, please also call us and meet with those who will paddle at the bridge as referred to in the previous email (Right turn onto Co. Road 22 at the light in Village of Schuyler Lake) and 1/2 mile to the bridge - at 10:00. Then we can be specific about where to go to our home while we paddle.

Also our one canoe is taken, so those interested will have to bring their own conveyance.

Also those who do paddle have the option of only paddling the outlet to the mouth of the Lake and returning to their vehicles and reloading and proceeding to our home. In other words, some may want to paddle all the way to our home - about 3 miles - and some can cut the trip much shorter. All will depend on the weather and the direction of the wind.

IF IT IS INCLEMENT WE WILL CANCEL ALL OF IT SO DO PLEASE CALL
