HIKE AND BIKE CLASSIFICATIONS
Classifications are subjective and chosen by the leader. If you are uncertain that you are up to the hike, consult the leader.

A: Strenuous, long distances over rugged terrain with lots of climbing. More than 35 miles on a bike.

B: Moderate, shorter distances with less climbing. Moderate hikes may have some steep climbing and/or rugged terrain, but are less demanding than strenuous hikes. 10-30 miles on a bike.

C: Easy, short distance over rolling or flat terrrain at a leisurely pace. 10 miles or less by bike. Suitable for beginners.

Snowshoe Bearpen Mt. in the Catskills. 8.5 miles round trip, 1600-foot elevation gain. Rated B. Bad weather or bad driving conditions will move the hike to Sunday.

Moonlight snowshoe hike. Moderate hike, hopefully on some snow. Meet at my house in West Oneonta. Plan to hike one and half to two hours. Dress in warm layers; bring snowshoes, poles, water bottle, headlamp. Rated C+.
