OCCA is sponsoring a snowshoe or hike event on Sunday, January 10 at 12:30 PM from Riddell State Park to Mudd Lake and return. The hike is about 3 1/2 hours long. It will be led by Steve Kent. Mr Kent and his wife, Patty Riddell Kent, donated the land for the Park to NYS in memory of Mrs. Kent's father Robert V. Riddell . Riddell Park is located off I 88 on Exit 17. Turn right at the exit if coming from Oneonta and left if coming from Albany. Park on the left or right side of Gersoni Road and walk up into the Park entrance where people will meet. Questions call Norma Lee Havens. 607-432-3154. Participants should dress warmly (in layers) and bring your own snowshoes, water, and snacks.
Norma Lee indicated that this hike will not be for the faint of heart. These are all trails in the state of being developed and it is an up hill climb though moderate terrain up South Hill and then back to the starting point.
