Hello Tuesday hikers -
Stef and I have scouted out the section of FLT where we had planned to hike, and found it to be...WET and SNOWY [not for nothing is this place named "Arctic State Forest! ] We are altering plans just a little, to avoid the worst and stay on the better portions. Here's the plan:

Meet in Masonville at 10 a.m. When we are all together, all cars will proceed to a parking site near Oquaga Lake. Here we can access the spur trail that goes to the lake. The first half-mile is very nice, high and dry. Then snow cover begins. At that point, Stef will lead a group of more-ambitious folks on through to Rte 20. Others may choose to accompany Linda back to the parked cars. We will drive some or all of the cars to Oquaga Park [a 5-minute drive], and meet up with the through - hikers who will stroll down Rte 20 and into Oquaga Park. We should be just in time for lunch by the lake (and there is a pavillion there, too).

If hiking through, prepare for up to 8"- 9" of wet snow. This hike is under 2 miles in length. There is nice hiking along the forest roads where we will park, if we want more exercise.

Please call if planning to attend : 265-3780
