Crumhorn Mt Walk to Ross Gas Well - Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Our group of 18 met at the Crumhorn Mt. Boy Scout Camp and walked the dirt road a mile to the gate of the Ross gas well on Shutter Rd.; first well in Otsego Co. Here we were met by Richard Nayh, the geologist for Gastem USA based in Montreal, Canada. We proceeded the 1/4 mi to the well where he talked to us, answering our questions, for an hour and a half. After enjoying a return walk to our cars, six of us enjoyed a lunch at Jackie's Restaurant in Milford.

Audubon Sanctuary Hike - May 5, 2009

Tue. May 5th hike on the Delaware-Otsego Audubon Sanctuary brought out 25 people to dare the forecasted showers. We hiked thru the Sanctuary onto a long abandoned road that parallels Swart Hollow Rd. south toward the old White Hill School intersection. This is from our 1915 Natl. Geo. Survey map, as the farm houses and school are long gone. Following various woodland trails we noted the violets, low bush blue berry, strawberry and shad tree blossoms. Back at the Sanctuary we enjoyed our lunches at the Hawk Watch site overlooking Oneonta's "greening up" valley.

Westville Airport Breakfast & Bike Ride - August 16, 2008

On Saturday, August 16, fourteen ADKers and friends assembled by 8:30 at the Westville Airport for the Middlefield Volunteer Fire Department's monthly Fly-in Breakfast super meal -- $6.50 buys all you can eat of pancakes, eggs and sausage with OJ, coffee, tea and cocoa. The proceeds from the breakfast benefit the fire department. The breakfast goes from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM and we were told that 480 people came out to get the breakfast and enjoy the nice little grass runway airport.
